PHYSIO THERAPY

Physiotherapy is a dynamic profession, which uses a range of treatment techniques to restore movement and function within the body. It includes two divisions of therapies.

  1. ELECTRO THERAPY
  2. EXERCISE THERAPY

MAJOR ELECTROTHERAPY TREATMENTS ARE:

  • INTERFERENTIAL THERAPY (I.F.T)

This therapy is also called as Interferential Current Therapy which uses mid frequency electrical stimulus to remove muscles sprains, strains and spasms, when applied appropriately this mid frequency current waves creates a massaging effect on the affected area and muscles at intermittent levels.

    BENEFITS:

    1. The I.F.T is principally used to relieve the pain.
    2. To increase the blood flow.
    3. Stimulate the muscles.
    4. To reduce swelling and Edema of the body parts.
  • ULTRASONIC THERAPY

Ultrasonic therapy is treatment given using ultrasound wave emitted through a ultrasonic machine.

Body Ailments in which we can use ultra-sonic therapy are:

    1. Muscle Pain
    2. Trigger Points
    3. Soften the Surgical Scar
    4. Softening the Tendon after Tendon Transplant
  • LASER THERAPY

Laser Therapy is the application of red and infrared light over injuries to improve soft tissue healing resulting in relief if acute and chronic conditions. The light source is placed in contact with the skin allowing the photon energy to penetrate the soft tissue, where it interacts with various intracellular biomolecules resulting in the restoration of normal cell functions and enhancement of the body’s healing processes.

    Conditions/Injuries Treated by Laser Therapy

    1. Tendonitis
    2. Rotator Cuff Tears
    3. Tennis and Golfer’s Elbow
    4. Calcifications
    5. Fractures with Soft Tissue Damage
    6. Ligament and Tendon Tears
    7. Sprains and Strains
    8. Arthritis
  • TRACTION

Application of a longitudinal force to the spine & associated structure Can be applied with continuous or intermittent tension Continuous – small force for extended time (over hours) is given. Sustained - small force for extended time (45 min. or less) is given. Intermittent – alternates periods of traction & relaxation (most common) is given.

    BENEFITS

    1. It cures Neck and lower back pain, either recent or longstanding that is of a mechanical cause.
    2. Beneficial Sciatica (thigh and leg pain)
    3. It cures Disc bulging or protrusion
    4. Reliefs Arthritis of the spine
  • MOIST HEAT THERAPY

For centuries, the ability of heat to increase blood flow and ease the sensation of pain has had an important role in managing pain and supporting the healing process. Expansion of blood capillaries is the primary objective of heat therapy.

    BENEFITS

    1. Helps in treating injuries, pain or discomfort in muscles and joints.
    2. Improve circulation and bring relief to muscle pain and overall soreness.
    3. Helps tissues and muscles to loosen and become more elastic.
    4. Heat therapy can be helpful in dealing with muscle cramps and spasms.

EXERCISE THERAPY

  • SHOULDER WHEEL

The Shoulder Wheel provides a reliable, easy to use tool for improving shoulder function and range of motion. To use, simply hold the handle and rotate the wheel either forward or backwards for easy, effective therapy. The patient can stand facing forward or to the side, and the height and resistance of the wheel can be adjusted with convenient knobs to enable precise positioning, working exactly the muscle groups you need.

    BENEFITS

    1. Improves range of motion of the shoulder with easy use.
    2. Smooth, convenient motion helps relieve pain and stiffness.
    3. Allows patients access to easily performed resistance exercises.
    4. Can be used either for easy exercise or for therapeutic assessment.
    5. Chrome-plated adjustment knobs adjust height and resistance for precise positioning
  • QUADRICEPS EXERCISE

The quadriceps muscle consist of four large muscles at the front of Thigh, The Rectus Femoris, Vastus Leteralis and Vastus Medialis. Exercise that improve the Quadriceps muscles are Leg Press, Squats and Leg extensions.

    BENEFITS

    1. It helps to improve range of motion of Knee Joint.
    2. Strengthen the quadriceps muscles to recover from Knee Arthritis.
